Fractal Dimension of Streetscape as a Proxy to the Design Dimension of the Built Environment in Walkability Research

Multidisciplinary nature of walkability research accelerated its growth through the participation different disciplines. Different methods measurement and analysis from varying disciplines created disagreements about how to characterize built environment dimensions by using appropriate attributes, especially attributes which are used represent design dimension environment. Fractal value streetscape provides solutions these arguments as it makes use both micro-scale macro-scale environment, relates quality walking. Walkability indices were then validated a survey conducted at Dutluk station in Keçiören, Ankara. Results show that fractal variable index can identify factors influence walking behavior.
